Annotation: The article considers the main properties and features of a discrete textile ornament, which appeared in the process of its improvement over time. Briefly, on separate examples, the methods of obtaining it, the principles of compositional construction are outlined. Special attention is paid to the forms and content of the ornamental motif as a fundamental element of emotional impact on a person. The text of the article notes the methods of quoting discrete ornaments of the past in the environmental culture of the XXI century, gives examples of the use of high technologies in obtaining the motifs of techno-ornament, reveals the peculiarities of the impact of clip thinking on youth textiles. The interrelation of interest in a discrete ornament with an increase in the influence of advertising stereotypes and the ability of young people to react to information both in the form of short texts and in the form of images of individual objects is determined.
