- Annotation: The article discusses the design features of the CX cotton separator. As a result of the analysis, the main reasons are established that lead to increased mechanical damage to seeds, and, as a consequence, to a decrease in the quality of products of the cotton ginning industry. The modernisation of the existing design of the separator is proposed by installing a visor at the outlet of the air flow into the separating chamber. On the basis of experimental studies, a regression mathematical model was obtained, which made it possible to assess the influence of the main design and technological parameters on the mechanical damage of seeds. It was found that this parameter, in addition to the position of the visor, is significantly influenced by the air flow rate at the entrance to the separation chamber and the separator performance. Recommendations on the choice of the position of the visor are obtained.
